Cranberry Green Juice

I really enjoy the fall and all of the different fruits and vegetables available at the market, including the cranberry.  Today, I added some fresh cranberries to my morning green juice – delicious!

I like to vary the ingredients of my juices so I don’t get tired of drinking the same recipe over and over.  More importantly, I know adding different fruits and vegetables to my recipes will give my body the variety of nutrients it needs.

Why cranberries?  This rich, red fruit is high in vitamin C and vitamin K, and is a good source of antioxidants. Additionally, fresh cranberry juice has long been thought to help protect against urinary tract infections, and can help the body fight against inflammation.  As doctors have learned, inflammation in the body can be a risk factor for many different diseases.

Some experts say cranberry juice can even reduce dental plaque by inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the mouth that causes plaque to grow.

Here is my cranberry green juice recipe from this morning:

1 cucumber

½ cup fresh cranberries

1 slice of fresh lime

2 leaves, swiss chard

½ cup fresh parsley
